Alpine Eagle

Alpine Eagle scores top honours

It was a memorable evening for our team on Saturday, with Alpine Eagle taking out the title of Leading Juvenile Sire at the Tasmanian Racing Awards.

The excitement of the night extended late into the piece, with his multiple Stakes-winning son Alpine Wolf being named Three-Year-Old of the Year.

“We’re just so proud of him,” said Armidale’s Rhiannon Whishaw.

“We’ve had every faith and backed him from day one, so watching his successful career unfold has been the ultimate thrill.”

Alpine Eagle’s progeny have enjoyed immense success across Australia, and he was a prominent force on Australia’s Second Season Sire premiership last season.

“He has sired top fillies, colts and geldings in multiple states, with many of them winning on top metro tracks,” said Rhiannon.

“It’s been great to see a horse like Alpine Wolf come out and win multiple Stakes races, but Alpine Eagle has proven to us that he’s not just a ‘one trick sire’ through the feats of his high-class performers The Map, Eye of the Eagle and Throntari.”

While Alpine Eagle has made a dream start to his career as a young sire, Rhiannon admits that the best is yet to come.

“The feedback from trainers has been hugely positive and he has two large foal crops coming through, so we can’t wait to see what’s in store for him next.”

Whilst Armidale has invested heavily in Alpine Eagle, Rhiannon acknowledges that the success of a stallion isn’t possible without support at every level.

“We want to thank everyone who has supported Alpine Eagle. Whether that be in the breeding barn, sales ring or through racehorse ownership, we can’t thank you enough and your support means the world to all of us here at Armidale.”
