Alpine Eagle stallion

Red letter day for Alpine Eagle

Today at Hobart, Alpine Eagle signed off a red-letter day with 3YO’s Alpine Affair and Verbano taking out two on the card.

Bred and sold by Armidale, Alpine Affair was purchased by his trainer John Blacker for $41k at the Tas Magic Millions Yearling Sale. The step-up in trip suited him well, with the son of Alpine Eagle finding the line with precision.

“We bought his dam (Elusive Affair) specifically for Alpine Eagle and he is the first foal out of the mare, so she has done us proud so far.
“Tony McEvoy has the 2YO full brother in his stable and we’re looking forward to presenting their full-sister at Magics this year, she’s an absolute ripper!”, said Armidale’s Racing & Bloodstock Manager Rhiannon Whishaw.

Later in the day, Verbano kept her unbeaten record intact and provided punters with a flashy reminder of her untapped ability. Trained by Scott Brunton, the daughter of Alpine Eagle won over the same trip (1100m) as a 2YO and was all class today.

Congratulations to everyone involved!
