Bay 1997 16.3hh
SAVOIRE VIVRE commenced stud duties at Armidale in 2002. He was third leading first crop sire in Australia behind Show A Heart and Galileo in 2005.
A member of Sheikh Mohammed’s powerful Godophin operation, SAVOIRE VIVRE had just three starts, displaying his undoubted ability with a 4 lengths win over 10f at Ascot on debut. He then finished runner up, against older horses, when beaten a length in the WFA Geoffrey Freer Stakes (Group 2) at Newbury at his second start. A lung infection followed by an ill timed hoof abscess ruled Savoire Vivre out of the Epsom Derby. He was pre-post favourite for the St Leger, before fate again dealt the son os Sadler’s Wells a cruel blow, when he pulled a hamstring on the eve of the race. SAVOIRE VIVRE had his final start at 4 in the Group 1 Prix du Cadran.
