IL Regalo and Double You Tee kick off with wins

It was pleasing to see the winning return last night of one of the states best 2YO’s from last season IL Regalo.

The filly by Armidale Stallion, Needs Further, from the King Of Kings mare Your Call, won her first two races as a 2YO and then was runner-up to Derasa in the Alfa Bowl. She was found to be injured during this run and missed the feature races during the Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival.

She was well ridden by in-form jockey Craig Newitt. Well done to trainer John Blacker and connections.

In another pleasing outcome it was great to see the second highest price yearling ever sold at the Tasmanian Magic Millions Yearling sale breakthrough at his third start last night.

Double You Tee (pictured as a yearling) is by champion stallion Written Tycoon from the Flying Spur mare Kandy Korn. The Colt was purchased by trainer John Blacker from the Armidale draft at 2016 Tasmanian Yearling Sale for a then record price $115,000. He is now owned by Ian Halliday, John Morton, Michael Smith andĀ  Nova Clause (Paul and Barbara Smith).

He was strong to line and looks to have a very bright future ahead of him. HisĀ  trainer believes he is up to racing in Melbourne and Sydney.

We will be offering a 1/2 sister to Double You Tee by Puissance De Lune at the 2018 Tasmanian Magic Millions Sale 15 February.
