Century of black type winners for High Chaparral

Former Windsor Park Stud and Coolmore shuttler High Chaparral reached his century of black-type winners when his daughter Main Desire recently took out the Listed Marygate Stakes at York.

High Chaparral retired to stud at Coolmore Ireland in 2004 after winning 10 of his 13 starts, 6 at Group 1 level.

They included the English and Irish Derbys plus 2 runnings of the Breeders’ Cup Turf.

He shuttled to Windsor Park Stud in Cambridge, New Zealand in 2005 and was switched to Coolmore’s Hunter Valley base in 2010.

His 100 black type winners include 57 at Group/Graded level, 18 at the highest level. They include So You Think, Dundeel, Contributer, Toronado and the recently retired Tivaci.

As a broodmare sire he is already the damsire of 4 Group 1 winners. High Chaparral was euthanised in December 2014.

Armidale will stand Gr2 winner and Gr1 placed Alpine Eagle by High Chaparral in 2017.
