Age is no barrier for Toughie

Old boy, Tough Speed (pictured) may be getting on in age but that it’s not stopping him from producing winners.

Over the Tasmanian Summer Racing Carnival the Bill Ryan trained Speed Force showed he would be a force in 2018 carnival racing through his grade’s and finishing up winning over 2100m. His trainer indicted that the feature cups over the TSRC would be on the geldings radar.

Of late Tough Speed has sired Victorian winner Tough Vic  trained by Darren Weir and locally Tough Missile.

On Sunday, he sired another winner that looks to have staying ability with White Hawk successful in the Maiden/Class 1 over 1880m. He is from the mare White Yard that placed 2nd in a Launceston Cup. He is trained at Sheffield by Angela Brakey and has now won two of his twelve starts and been placed six times.

The ill-fated stallion Saviore Vivre looks as though he has sired another very smart horse in the Glen Stevenson trainer Killin Falls.

The 4yo Gelding from the Danehill mare Almost Ripe produced a powerful finish to win a BM82 over 1350m. This time in he has won four of his five starts and his trainer has indicted that a tilt at the Listed Newmarket Handicap over 1200m is on his radar

Tough Speed will stand alongside exiting new stallion Alpine Eagle (High Chaparral) and promising First season sire Needs Further (Encosta De Lago) in 2017.
