The Armidale sired duo BANCO MO (by TOUGH SPEED) and THE CLEANER (by SAVOIRE VIVRE) gave Tasmanian Racing and breeding the best free advertising possible, by running first and second in the main race the Hong Kong Racehorse Owners handicap at Moonee Valley today. Run over 2040m BANCA MO started favourite with the punters, but it was THE CLEANER who led almost all the way and looked to have the race won at the top of the straight, before BANCA MO’S jockey BEN KNOBEL pulled to the outside and gave BANCA MO the space to run THE CLEANER down and go away winning by over 2 lengths.
This result caps off a wonderful few days of racing for Armidale Stud, with our home bred filly QUEENSTOWN (Stratum – Regal Heights) winning her first start at Hawkesbury for one of the Star Thoroughbred Syndicates (Managed by Denise Martin) and trainer Gai Waterhouse. On the very same day, 1st August, Tasmania’s Leading Sire SAVOIRE VIVRE sired a double at Morphetville in South Australia.
