6th March, 2012

Well I am back in my office finding time to write after a very hectic 2 weeks with the Tasmanian Yearling Sale on 21st February, closely followed by the Inglis Premier Sale in Victoria which concluded on 1st March! Armidale offered 10 yearlings at the Tassie sale and sold them all (7 went interstate!) at an average of just over $17,000. In Victoria we sold 5 yearlings for an average of $39,100. Considering the current state of the economy we were fairy happy with our sales results.

It was wonderful to catch up with so many great friends in Melbourne including Susan Archer from New Zealand and William Huntingdon from England. The sales eve cocktail parties at both Launceston and Melbourne were very social occasions and seemed to be enjoyed by all attending. I have decided I must be getting a bit ‘long in the tooth’ because I just couldn’t hear the conversations at the Inglis party with over 200 attending and much noise and merriment.

We are more than thrilled with our racing results in the past few weeks! LADY LYNETTE, BUZZING ALONG and REBEL BRIDE ran the quinella in the Listed Vamos Stakes prior to the yearling sale (all born and reared at Armidale) , and on Sunday at Devonport our sires had 4 winners, 3 of which were born and reared at Armidale! (TOUGH KISSES, BLACK ‘N’ TOUGH and ROYAL MISWAKI).

Now its time to focus on handling and weaning our foals before Harry and Pete take a well earned break over the Winter months. I also have to pack for Dubai as my adventure with great friend Jenny Watson is fast approaching!

Camilla has started her work for Yarraman Park after a very ‘interesting’ drive up from Melbourne dodging all the flooding and chaos.
