Well it certainly was another great days racing yesterday at Elwick, with a Tasmanian owned and trained horse winning the Cup much to the delight of so many locals. GEE GEES BLACKFLASH went into the Cup a clear favourite and went on to win like the really class horse that he is. Congratulations to the owners Paul and Elizabeth Geard and to his trainer John Luttrell and all those involved in caring for the horse. DREAM FLYER (Savoire Vivre – Unamah) ran a really good third in the Cup to give his sire Savoire Vivre another stakes performed horse. Then in the next race, LIFE TO THE FULL (Savoire Vivre – Sinizzor) came home strongly to run 3rd the Thomas Lyons Stakes over 1400m.
Armidale Sire TELESTO (USA) sired a double on Hobart Cup day with GALIBIER (TELESTO – BIANCHI) looking ultra impressive in winning the Maiden over 1100m first up. The rest of the field just couldn’t keep up with this horse, who took the lead early and cleared away for an effortless win by over 7 lengths. Second and third horses in this race were by Savoire Vivre and Tough Speed respectively. GALIBIER was born and reared at Armidale and is raced by well known owner Brett Williams and a group of friends.
SIN ‘N’ TEL (Telesto – Sinodal) bought up the double for Telesto with a good win in the Class 1 over 1600m for trainer Terry Roles and jockey Anthony Darmanian.
TELESTO is represented by a single lot in the Tasmanian Yearling Sale on 21st February. This colt from the Armidale Draft is a half brother to the very smart Group 2 winning filly NUCLEAR FREE. He is also bred on the same cross as this filly being by a son of MR PROSPECTOR from the wonderful broodmare FORGETFUL (NZ). Catalogued as Lot 70 in the sale don’t forget to have a good look at this horse if you are looking for a tough, genuine racing prospect. He has the most wonderful walk and a great work ethic.
To top off a great days racing for Armidale, TOUGH AT HEART (TOUGH SPEED – LITTLELIONHEART) lead most of the way to win the Class 4 1100m for owner trainer Harriet Paul of Judbury.
