Wow – we are still buzzing here after a wonderful days racing for Armidale at Elwick . Savoire Vivre sired 3 winners including the DERBY winner METHUSELAH. Bred by the late Bert Wicks from his Weasel Clause mare DAZZLING VINTAGE, Methuselah was purchased by Redgum Racing from the Armidale Yearling Draft at the Tas Magic Millions Sale 2 years ago for $30,000. He has now had 3 wins and has stakes of over $75,000 and a very bright staying future ahead of him. Trainer John McCardle will head to either the VRC St Leger or the SA Derby with Methuselah. John tells us he is also delighted with the 3 year old daughter of Savoire Vivre – Rule Britannia that he also purchased from the Armidale draft in the same year. She has had 2 starts for a 3rd and a 2nd and he thinks she is a class filly and will win plenty of staying races in the future.
To top off a wonderful day Armidale reared mares ran 1st and 2nd in the Group 3 Bow Mistress Stakes over 1200m. Up and coming star REBEL BRIDE (Telesto – Striking Sort) defeated the gallant mare LADY LYNETTE (earnings of over 1 million).
Great to see Tassie Bred horses performing well against the ‘interstate raiders’!! Someone asked me at the races if we minded the interstate horses coming to Tassie to race. I replied ‘No not at all as long as we beat them!’ But seeing as Methuselah is 100% Tassie bred then we didn’t mind him winning at all. Hopefully his owners will now be tempted to come back to Tassie and purchase some more top quality racehorses ! There’s no doubt we can breed them here.
