The Tasmanian Turf Club hosted its first night meeting of the new season on Thursday evening, and once again Armidale sires provided plenty of winners and placegetters on an evening that saw front runners dominate. RUFF N TUFF (Tough Speed) went very close to winning the opening race running a good second in the Class 1 over 1600m.
CRAZY CHESTER (Savoire Vivre – Arch Glow) went one better in the Madien over 1400m for trainer Adam Triner and jockey Kelvin Sanderson. The third placed horse in this race FIREMAN SOX (Savoire Vivre – Ingnited) looks set for bigger things over more distance as he matures.
TUKTOYAKTUK (Savoire Vivre – Loch Carron) went with a short half head of winning the 1200m Maiden for trainer and owner Di Ray Luttrell, and ANNOUNCED (Tough Speed – Sonic) also had to content with second behind OBSTINADO in the Open Sprint over 1200m.
In the final race of the evening ROSELANDS (Tough Speed – Velvet Rose) fought out an exciting finish with DIGGER’S SUNRISE (Tough Speed – Sunset Clause) and managed to hold on much to owner/trainer Di Ray Luttrels’ joy!
